The memo - Page 1 [Day 1: Surveillance has begun... finally.]

This is not a confession.

Confessions seek forgiveness.

This is observation.

I began noticing you long before you noticed anything at all.

You blend in perfectly—that is your first deception.

A student among students.

A quiet presence in a room that never truly looks closely.

But I look.

I always look.

You were never just a student in the Translation Department.

Never just another name on a list,

never a face passing through corridors and lectures.

You are…

you are the detail the others miss.

The pause between words.

The hesitation before meaning.

The silence where understanding begins.

I learned your patterns before I learned your name.

Before anyone said it out loud.

Before you wrote it neatly on the corner of your notebook.

You arrive almost the same way every day—

not exactly on time, not late enough to draw attention.

Your steps are measured, unhurried, as if you are already translating the world in your head before entering it.

Today, like so many days before,

you chose your favorite chair.

The one positioned at a precise forty-five–degree angle from the window.

Not accidental.

Never accidental with you.

Light touches the side of your face there—

not enough to distract,

just enough to remind you that the outside world still exists

while you slowly disappear into text.

The same notebook.

The same blue pen.

You always prefer blue.

Black is too final for you.

Red is too loud.

Your hand rests on the desk in that familiar way—

fingers relaxed,

wrist slightly turned inward—

a posture that signals the moment before immersion.

I wait for it.

I always wait for it.

How beautiful repetition becomes

when it belongs to you.

Your lips move without sound.

You do not notice it.

No one ever does.

But I see it every time.

You translate silently,

not just words,

but intent.

Tone.

What the author wanted to say

and what they were afraid to admit.

I watch your eyes slow down on certain sentences.

I watch you dissect them,

pull them apart carefully,

as if language were a living thing

that deserves respect before being reshaped.

You do not translate mechanically.

You negotiate with meaning.

You tilt your head slightly when something resists you.

You press the pen harder when a phrase refuses to cooperate.

Your brow tightens—not in frustration,

but in concentration.

No one around you understands what is happening in your mind.

They think you are simply studying.

They are wrong.

You are constructing something invisible.

You are rebuilding thought in another form.

Today, you wrote a word that made you stop.

Transcreation.

You underlined it once.

Then paused.

Your right eyebrow lifted just a fraction—

that involuntary signal of discovery.

That tiny betrayal of excitement you believe no one sees.

This eyebrow…

this eyebrow has become familiar to me.

I know your breathing when you are focused—

slow, shallow, precise.

I know the quiet exhale you release

when a sentence finally surrenders.

I know when fatigue approaches

before you admit it to yourself.

You stretch your fingers subtly.

You lean back just enough to reset,

never enough to escape.

You are disciplined even in exhaustion.

You call yourself mysterious.

Others do too.

They are wrong again.

Mystery implies distance.

I have removed that.

I know you more than you know yourself—

not because I am close,

but because I watch without interruption.

Every day.

Every session.

Every repetition.

You do not see me.

That is why I see you so clearly.

I will continue.

I will record every pattern,

every hesitation,

every thought you leave unfinished.

Every word you write,

I will write after you.

Every idea that forms in your mind,

I will be there—

already waiting.

This diary is for you.

About you.

Inside you.

And this—

this is only the beginning.
